Cautions & Guidance

Rays of Life offers a variety of non-invasive sound therapy sessions that may calm your mind, relax your body and sooth your spirit.   We approach every session and every client with great care and discernment as every individual is unique.  The following information is not meant to be alarming but rather is provided so that you can make the best decision for your own well-being.  As well as to be aware of what information you should communicate to your practitioner.

Please note that extensive studies have not been done nor research organized on these circumstances.  This information is based on anecdotal experiences acquired through many sessions of similar sound therapy practitioners.

If any of the following is applicable to you, the practitioner may decide to alter a given session foregoing vibroacoustic type applications, recommend seeking prior guidance and approval from your medical professional, or may suggest that a session be scheduled at a later date.  Again, if any of these conditions apply, get in touch with us in advance of scheduling your appointment to determine the best course forward.

Cautions, Guidance & Other Considerations

Active Cancer*

  • Once cancer has advanced in the body, detox pathways are often compromised, and the body may have difficulty digesting newly introduced energetic input.
  • The body may not have the resources to effectively manage detox symptoms that may result from Biofield Tuning or other targeted energy sessions.
  • Tumors may be irritated by vibroacoustic instruments and as such, the practitioner will not apply such instruments directly on them.

*These statements refer to cancer that is active and/or in treatment; not to cancer that is in remission

End of Life

  • Biofield Tuning, or other targeted energy sessions, may overwhelm end-of-life body systems which are often in a depleted energetic state.
  • End-of-life detox may be uncomfortable as the body may not have the resources to effectively manage detox symptoms.
  • Components of Biofield Tuning and sound therapy methods have been used as a means of calming the nervous system during end-of-life circumstances to ease transition.

Acute / Advanced / Terminal Illness

  • If you are experiencing any kind of acute or advanced illness, Biofield Tuning, or other targeted energy sessions, can create uncomfortable detox or aggravate symptoms.
  • Treatment often requires a multi-modal approach.

Pregnancy

  • During pregnancy, the body expends a tremendous amount of energy; Biofield Tuning, or other targeted energy sessions, may overwhelm this already overextended system.
  • The body may not have the resources to effectively manage detox systems which may affect both mother and baby.
  • Components of Biofield Tuning, or other targeted energy sessions, such as using weighted forks on the body for limited duration, have been used to promote relaxation during pregnancy.

Electrical Medical Implants*

* Pacemaker, Medtronic pumps, neural implants

  • Tuning forks, and other vibroacoustic instruments, may interfere with the electrical functioning of these devices due to the added vibrational input.
  • No reports of ill effects have been associated with newer pacemakers.  It is recommended to proceed with caution, careful observation, and the advice of your medical professional.

Recent Concussions

  • When the brain is swollen, it takes time for inflammation to resolve.
  • It is suggested to wait at least 3 months after a significant injury for the brain to heal before receiving Biofield Tuning, or other vibroacoustic type sessions, on or around the head.  The rest of the body can receive gentle tuning shortly after injury occurs.
  • Each case is different – with mild concussions, components of Biofield Tuning and gentle sound therapy sessions, may be received before the 3-month waiting period.

Morbid Obesity

  • Suppressed emotions and energy can be held in adipose tissue.  If there is extensive adipose tissue, Biofield Tuning, and other sound therapy sessions, may result in unpredictable and strong emotional releases and/or uncomfortable detox responses.
  • Advise your practitioner if you would be more comfortable receiving a session while seated versus lying on a massage type treatment table.

Metal Toxicity

  • Biofield Tuning, or other targeted energy sessions, may initiate a large release of toxins from cells, resulting in discomfort.
  • Some individuals with heavy metal toxicity have experienced a strong detox response following a Biofield Tuning session.
  • Consider seeking guidance from additional modalities, such as supplements, that may support the detoxification process.

Considerations for Using Weighted Forks and other Vibroacoustic Instruments on the Body

Varicose Veins

  • The practitioner will avoid using firm pressure with weighted forks, or other vibroacoustic methods, directly over large varicose veins.  This has the potential to dislodge blood clots.  The practitioner will likely avoid these areas altogether.
  • The practitioner may consider working gently with mild pressure in the area around varicose veins rather than directly on them.  The practitioner will likely avoid these areas altogether.
  • No reports of ill effects have been associated with using gentle pressure on and around spider veins.

Dental Anomalies

  • The practitioner will avoid using direct pressure with weighted forks, or other vibroacoustic methods, over dental implants, chipped/broken teeth, or bone fragments in the gums, as this may cause them to shift due to the vibration of the tuning fork or other vibroacoustic instruments.  The practitioner will likely avoid these areas altogether.

Fractured Bones

  • The practitioner will avoid working with weighted forks, or with other vibroacoustic instruments, directly on any recent broken or fractured bones, as the vibrational input can be uncomfortable and interfere with the natural healing process.  The practitioner will likely avoid these areas altogether.

Metal Implants*

*Metal rods, screws, plates

  • Direct pressure with weighted forks, or with other vibroacoustic instruments, on these areas may cause discomfort.
  • In these circumstances, the practitioner may consider gentle use of the tuning forks, or other vibroacoustic instruments, until you gain a sense of how your body responds.

Other Conditions

In addition to the above, advise your sound therapy practitioner if any of following are applicable to you.

  • Epilepsy
  • Known Blood Clots
  • Prosthetics
  • Tinnitus
  • Spinal Fractures
  • Degenerative Disc Disease
  • Bulging or Herniated Disc(s)
  • Planning to become pregnant
  • And another other condition worth mentioning.

If any of the above applies to you and you are still interested in experiencing a Biofield Tuning or other Sound Therapy session, it is recommended that you pay close attention to how your body is feeling, while experiencing the session in person or during a virtual session, and openly communicate with your practitioner before and during any session.   In all cases, it is recommended that you trust your own senses and choose sessions accordingly.
